Brand new for 2018, Advent of Change is the revolutionary charity advent calendar, inviting customers to give, rather than receive as they count down to Christmas.

Local accountants and business advisors, Haines Watts are one of a small number of corporate sponsors and will be supporting Advent of Change by promoting the calendar to clients and Haines Watts employees.

This social enterprise, which was born less than nine months ago, has caught the attention of John Lewis, who will be stocking the calendar in stores throughout the country and online for no profit.

Each door reveals a different donation to one of 24 commendable charities, spread across a wide variety of causes, including children, animals, the third world, healthcare, refugees and the environment. The brainchild of Kristina Salceanu, a huge majority of the sale price (85%) will go directly to charity. 

Each day represents a £1 donation and describes how that gift could be used to give the recipient a ‘feel-good feeling’ each day and see exactly how they've helped to change the world for the better, from feeding the homeless to protecting our oceans.

Last year we had an amazing response to our Christmas charity campaign supporting local foodbanks.  This year we felt it was really important to include a wide variety of charities that would be personally meaningful to as many people as possible.

This innovative idea comes at a time when alternative advent calendars, like those containing beauty, alcohol and food products – have seen an astronomic rise in popularity. This, combined with the annual peak in charitable donations during November and December, perfectly positions Advent of Change to use the festive countdown to really make a positive impact.  The calendar can also act as a great early Christmas present or to send to people instead of Christmas cards.

Advent of Change is made in the UK and has the environment in mind, using FSC-certified paper, vegetable oil-based inks, biodegradable glues, and comes wrapped in a biodegradable potato starch film.
